Thousands Are Giving Away Tickets to Daniel and the Fiery Furnace—So Others Can See It for Free

As Daniel and the Fiery Furnace plays in theaters nationwide, a growing group of supporters is paying for others to see it—turning a movie ticket into an unexpected act of generosity.

Daniel and the Fiery Furnace opened in theaters nationwide September 18 through EKKL Entertainment—and audiences have been showing up to see it.

The biblical epic, starring Mena Massoud (Aladdin) as Daniel and Elijah Alexander (The Chosen) as King Nebuchadnezzar, reportedly opened at No. 7 at the domestic box office, bringing in more than $3 million during its first weekend. It is also currently the No. 1 faith-based film in America, while earning a 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes based on more than 100 verified ratings.

But perhaps the more interesting story isn’t just how many people bought tickets for themselves.

It’s how many people are buying them for someone else.

A Ticket for Someone They Don’t Know

Through the film’s “Buy Seats, Change Hearts” campaign, supporters can contribute toward movie tickets for people who might not otherwise be able to afford to see the film.

The concept is remarkably simple: approximately $15 can cover a movie ticket, with donations pooled into a fund. People who can’t afford a ticket can submit a request, and tickets are then matched to those requests.

And the response has been significant.

The original campaign set a $50,000 goal. It has now surpassed that goal, with the GiveSendGo page currently reporting more than $52,000 raised. Nearly 1,200 donors have contributed to the campaign, which has helped provide free tickets to thousands of people across America—including youth groups and shelters.

Faith in Action—On Screen and at Home

Daniel and the Fiery Furnace is ultimately a story about faith in action—about Daniel and his friends choosing to live out what they believed when the cost of doing so was high. Off screen, audiences are finding their own way to do the same.

For some, that has meant something as simple as paying for someone else to see the film.

After all, you may never know who ends up sitting in that theater seat—or what the experience might mean to them. All you know is that someone who might not have been able to go now has the opportunity.
